Placemaking
A collaborative process to improve public spaces and the lives of the people who use them
Some public improvements must be designed and built by professionals, like our new playground. Some of the smaller projects may allow for volunteers to provide some of the labor. Public art is one of the few improvements that a group of volunteers can take from concept to completion.
Public art is intended to improve public spaces but often falls short on the collaborative part of the process. This site was created to offer a place for the public to join in the process, and possibly even change it. An all-volunteer group designing and building our roundabout art would say more about the community of Pendleton, than the subject of the art ever could. Even so, we still must decide what to build.
Imagine driving past art that you helped to create, or could have.
