Placemaking

A collaborative process to improve public spaces and the lives of the people who use them

Public art is intended to improve our public spaces, but it often falls short on the collaborative portion of the process. This website was created to offer a place for the public to join in the process, and possibly even change it.

Our current project is the roundabout at 191st and Little Chicago rd. in Noblesville. The art sculpture is made of a dozen metal butterflies that were originally installed late last fall. Within a week a distracted driver damaged the sculpture with a minivan, and by the end of spring, storm fronts had damaged even more of the butterflies. Revisions have been made to the design, those butterflies are currently being fabricated, and each one of them will need to be painted.

What if the public painted them?

Imagine driving past an art sculpture that you helped create… or could have.
